The customer commissioned us to process a robot joint shell for an intelligent robotic arm. The material is 7075 aluminum alloy, which requires high strength, light weight, and flawless appearance.
Size: outer diameter Φ108mm, height 70mm, internal special-shaped cavity
Features: external arc, multi-step structure of inner cavity + 35° bevel cross positioning of side hole
Requirements: flatness ±0.01mm, all holes are completed in the same clamping, and repeated clamping cannot cause errors
Problems and solutions:
Conventional three-axis cannot complete all angle processing, which is easy to cause tolerance deviation or multiple clamping positioning errors;
Side oblique holes and steps in deep cavities require high-rigidity tools and precise path control;
Customers require that the appearance of parts has no knife marks or scratches after anodizing.
Solution
Use the German DMU five-axis machining center to complete the whole piece processing in one clamping to eliminate the error of changing equipment;
Select high-hardness coated milling cutters, with tool length control and dynamic simulation, to solve the interference problems of oblique holes and deep cavities;
The workpiece base is designed with local support and shock absorption, and micro-polished before anodizing to ensure no processing marks.
