This product is a typical industrial-grade high-power heat sink housing used in inverter equipment. Its manufacturing process combines various high-precision machining technologies to balance heat dissipation efficiency and structural strength.

Products process

 

1. Aluminum Extrusion

This is the most basic forming process for this product.

Die Design: Due to the very deep and dense fins, it is a high-tooth-ratio heatsink. This requires a high-strength extrusion die design to ensure that the molten aluminum fills the narrow gaps during extrusion without breaking.

Extrusion Process: The aluminum rod (usually 6063 or 6061 alloy, with excellent thermal conductivity) is heated and then pressed into the desired cross-sectional shape using a high-tonnage extruder.

Cooling and Straightening: After air or water cooling, the extruded long profile is stretched and straightened to eliminate internal stress and ensure straightness.

2. Precision Machining (CNC Machining)
Extrusion only completes the longitudinal contour; complex holes and openings require CNC machine tools.

CNC Cutting: The large elliptical opening at the top and the U-shaped groove on the side are formed later by CNC milling.

Drilling and Tapping: Multiple mounting holes are distributed on the top surface and base edges. These holes are drilled and internally threaded (tapping) for mounting PCB boards, fans, or securing the housing.

Flat Milling: To ensure tight contact with heat-generating components (such as chips or IGBTs), the bottom and top mounting surfaces are precision milled to achieve extremely high flatness.

3. Surface Treatment

Sandblasting: Fine abrasive is sprayed onto the surface to give the product a uniform matte/frosted texture while concealing scratches caused during extrusion.

Anodizing: This is the most crucial step. A dense aluminum oxide film (usually silver-white oxide) is formed on the surface through an electrochemical reaction.

Functions: Enhances corrosion resistance, improves insulation performance, increases hardness, and improves heat dissipation efficiency.

4. Inspection and Packaging
Thermal Testing (Sampling): Checks for defects in the density of the heat sink.

Dimensional Inspection: Use a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to check the hole position accuracy.

Packaging Cleaning: Ensure there are no aluminum shavings in the gaps of the heat sink.
