Project name: High-toughness PP electrical base mold
Product requirements: The shell structure has multiple screw columns, buckles, and ventilation grids, and high dimensional accuracy requirements (±0.03mm).
Process difficulties:
PP material is tough, easy to shrink and warp;
The buckle structure has a tight position, which makes demolding difficult;
Multi-column design is prone to uneven filling and welding marks.
Solution
Add multiple zone runners and hot runner control to the mold design to achieve balanced mold filling;
Use gas-assisted demolding structure to solve the problem of demolding difficulties;
Optimize cooling water channels through CAE flow simulation to ensure shrinkage is controlled within the tolerance range;
The mold steel is H13 and nitrided to extend the mold life to more than 500,000 molds.
This set of PP molds took only 21 days from design, manufacturing, mold trial to mass production, saving customers nearly 30% of the development cycle, and the final product reached the mass production standard after one mold trial.
